As the oldest village - Brixen im Thale - Brixen gave the valley its name. Unlike many other Alpine valleys the Brixental not end
in a valley, it's open to both sides. It connects the Inntal in the west to the Kitzbühel area to the east.
The "grass mountains" of the Brixental are nestled between the rock walls of the Wilder Kaiser and the ice-panorama of the Hohe Tauern. The glaciers of the Ice Age gave the valley the trough shape and formed the ancient rocks of the mountains to an ideal ski and hiking area.
